First thing's first... Hi. I'm so glad you're here!

My name is Christina Sforza, and I am the Owner of Urban Jungle. I can't believe I'm typing that out... I OWN MY OWN BUSINESS! *celebration dance*

I am an almost-30-years-old-still-finding-her-way-in-life kinda chick, but I now know deep down this is exactly what direction my life was always supposed to take. 

Tending to plants is in my blood, straight down to my DNA. My Italian grandfather learned how to take care of plants from a very early age, working on the family farm in New England in the mid 1900s. It was there that he decided to do exactly what I just did- he left on his own and started his own business called Byfield Greenhouses in Newbury, Massachusetts where he grew incredible annuals, vegetables, and raised a family right there in the greenhouses for over 40 years.  I vividly remember summers in the greenhouses, strolling the gravel-floor aisles for hours, touching all of the flowers and smelling all of the colors with dirt in my hair and under my fingernails. A tragedy struck at the greenhouses in 2022 when my aunt died in a horrible accident, and my family decided to close the greenhouses after 40 years. The identity of my family was gone, just like that.  Ever since that dreadful day, and since the decision to close down the family greenhouses, I have had a deep longing to carry on the family torch-  for Susan. 

 

Being the manager of the largest Indoor Plant Greenhouse in the state of NV for over a year has prepared and equipped me with the knowledge and resources I needed to follow my aunt's footsteps.  I know a plethora of information about houseplants, their care, how to treat and diagnose pest/diseases, their requirements, and so much more. One important thing I learned in that position is that there is a real, desperate need for a good, reliable Plant Maintenance company in Las Vegas. Especially a Plant Maintenance company that understands the struggles of living with plants in the Mojave Desert. A company that is community driven and that not only specializes in plant maintenance, but that can also offer education and resources for those that want to learn to care for their plants properly. We offer plant sitting for when you're out of town, repot lessons, diagnosing, rentals, and so much more. And just like that, on July 7th of 2023, Urban Jungle was born.

I'm a care-taker. A problem solver. An Aquarius. I love my cats, my partner of 9 years, my family, and my plants. I love pasta, Chinese food, community, reading, and a good, cold beer after a nice, long hike.

 I'm excited for all of the future projects we will do together and for all of the friendships we will make on this planty journey! Now let's go for a hike get that beer! After we take care of your plants of course! :)
